unemployment led to give property development a go…
Peabody
2024 brought about a new side hustle when I bought an auction property in South London. The aim was to refresh this one bed property by bringing the interior up to a modern standard whilst retaining as many of the original, Edwardian period, fittings as possible.
The kitchen an bathroom both added during the nineties were removed and replaced with fittings designed to add a contemporary appearance, and to maximise the limited floorspace. The footprint remains true to the Edwardian original and further enhanced as I stripped back the original cupboards to the beech and coated with oil, to bring out the rich, base colour of the wood. Adding contemporary radiators throughout, plastering and whitewashing the walls gives a touch of modernity whilst showcasing the original functionality of this compact, but well proportioned space.

PEABODY II
Imagine my delight when a similar property became available in a nearby block. This time, the flat required updates to the kitchen and bathroom, the rebuild of a pre-existing but seen-better-days cupboard and a more sympathetic colour scheme. aThe overall aim was to enhance the sense of comfort within a space ideal for a first-time buyer and add a bit of oompf.
